Casting Your Nets on the Other Side - October 2009

"Casting Your Nets" brought persons from churches across the state - Buffalo to Orient Point, Rodman to Bronxville - to be re-inspired to spread the good news and serve the communities in which we are located. Here is a sample of the resources used at the October 2009 gathering.
	We started Friday, October 23, 2009 with an ice cream social, sharing stories since our last gathering, and evening vespers.

Ron Buford led our Saturday morning gathering with the theme, "Maybe Hospitality Is What It's All About!"	Clearly these fabulous folks from our host church, First Congregational UCC in Newark Valley, know all about hospitality.

Saturday afternoon workshops provided resources, brainstorming and sharing of experiences in Fellowship, Invitation, Mission and Worship.	What could this be? The Worship Workshop prepared Sunday worship whose theme was "Easter in October". The Time for Younger Christians provided a hunt for eggs - emphasizing you must look inside the egg (person) to really know them.

It wouldn't be a UCC gathering without the fellowship of eating together.	Sunday morning worship was created by the Worship Team, led by Maren Tirabassi. Following worship, we evaluated how a person new to the fellowship might have felt about this experience.
Next steps by your Casting Your Nets Team include regular follow-up by our Regional Consultants - Lex Liberatore, Bonnie Miller and Marcia Tolman, our Bait Newsletter, regional meetings after Christmas and a Casting Your Nets gathering as part of the New York Conference annual meeting.
