> 2013 - Metro Annual Meeting - 1

Our People - 1

There would be no churches, no associations, no conferences, no United Church of Christ without the people.

We gathered on a bright Saturday, April 20, 2013, for the Annual Meeting of the Metropolitan Association. Below are the images from our Welcome through the end of our presentations.

Here are the images from our Worship through Lunch.

(Images from our worship and lunch presentations are here.)

We were welcomed to First Congregational Church of Rockaway Beach even before we went through its doors. Smiles and efficiency greeted us at Registration. We enjoyed breakfast and fellowship before adjourning for our business meeting.

Our host minister welcomed us. Our Registrar reported 40 churches in attendance and gave us the report of the Ordination and Ministerial Standing Committee. Good news from the Treasurer – our finances are in good shape.

We voted licensure for three Members in Discernment. There are lots of opportunities to help host the June 6 – 9 Annual Meeting of the NY Conference. We voted to change the name of the “Church and Metropolitan Community Committee” to the “Social Justice Committee”.

The Nominating Committee brought a strong slate of officers and committee members which we approved unanimously. Our outgoing secretary recorded our actions. Associate Conference Minister for Congregational Development installed our officers and committee members – and gave us updates on NY Conference activities.

Officers and committee members pledged to serve the Association with the help of God. Boundary Awareness Training on Monday, May 20, is open to those with ministerial standing as well as lay persons. Sharing personal experiences and praying for one another creates a path for “church growth” of spirit and community.

Encouraged by our leaders from the Riverside Church, in small groups we shared experiences of oneness with God and with other persons. The Parish Resource Center supports clergy and lay persons. Current offerings are shown on their website – http://www.prcli.org/. 18WINDOW We closed our business meeting and presentations and moved into a time of worship.
